Hobart, Garret Augustus

Hobart, Garret Augustus (hō'bärt, –burt) [key], 184499, Vice President of the United States (1897–99), b. Long Branch, N.J. A lawyer and businessman, he was prominent in New Jersey Republican politics for many years. Elected Vice President on the ticket with McKinley, he died in office.
