Roger Babson

statistician, business forecaster, writer
Born: 1875
Birthplace: Gloucester, Mass.

Though not a particularly good student, he studied bookkeeping and engineering and in 1904 founded the Business Statistical Organization, whose publications advised clients on timing the purchase or sale of stocks, bonds, and commodities. He founded the Babson Institute (later Babson College) in 1919, and in 1927 established Webber College to train women for business.
