Sam Neill

Birthplace: Omagh, Northern Ireland

Brought up in New Zealand, Neill has played leading roles in critically acclaimed Australian films directed by Jane Campion (My Brilliant Career, 1979; The Piano, 1993). He appeared with Meryl Streep in Plenty (1985) and Cry in the Dark (1988), and he co-starred in the films Dead Calm (1989), Hunt for Red October (1990), and Jurassic Park (1993) and the 2001 sequel Jurassic Park III. Other films include The Dish (2000). In Britain he played the lead role in the series Reilly: The Ace of Spies (1983), for which he won Best Actor on British Television (1983).
