Georgie Tapps

A tap dancer and choreographer, Tapps performed in films of the 1930s and 1940s, including 52nd Street (1937) and Vogues (1937). On stage he appeared with George M. Cohan in I'd Rather Be Right (1937) and replaced Gene Kelly in the title role of Pal Joey (1942). Tapps did solo work, tapping to classical pieces such as Ravel's Bolero. His troupe toured Europe in the 1950s and 1960s, appearing in cabarets. He came out of retirement to perform in the show Whatever Happened to Georgie Tapps? (1979).
