Russell Baker writer Born: 1925 Birthplace: Loudoun County, Virginia
Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the New York Times. In 1993, he replaced Alistair Cooke as host of PBS's Masterpiece Theatre. Collections of Baker's columns include An American in Washington (1961) and Poor Russell's Almanac (1971); his two memoirs are Growing Up (1982) and The Good Times (1989).
