Eva Marie Saint

Saint's film career was launched with her remarkable performance as Marlon Brando's girlfriend in On the Waterfront (1954), for which she won an Oscar. She played opposite Cary Grant in North by Northwest (1959), costarred with Paul Newman in Exodus (1960), and delivered an outstanding performance in A Hatful of Rain (1957), a drama about drug addiction. Saint has appeared in myriad TV movies and played Cybill Shepherd's mother in the series Moonlighting (1987–88) and appeared in Papa's Angels (2000). More recent film appearances include I Dreamed of Africa (2000), Because of Winn-Dixie (2005) , and as Martha Kent in Superman Returns (2006).
