How do I get diabetes?

There are two types of “sugar” diabetes. One is an inherited form that runs in families. It is called Type I or juvenile diabetes. In these children the pancreas stops making insulin. The other type of diabetes is called Type II or “adult onset” diabetes. This occurs in many overweight people. Their bodies stop responding to insulin. This type of diabetes shouldn’t be called “adult onset” anymore because many overweight children are now getting this type of diabetes too. So if you eat right and stay in shape you can help prevent diabetes.
