What is athlete’s foot?

Athlete’s foot is a disease of the feet cause by a fungus (yuck!) called tinea pedis. This fungus takes advantage of the warm, moist soles of our feet. It invades our skin layers and makes our skin crack and peel. Just because your feet peel doesn’t mean you have the illness. It is the cracking of our skin that gets painful and annoying. To get athlete’s foot you do not need to be an athlete, but you do have to have moist feet. To avoid it just air out your sneakers and feet everyday. Remember, tinea hates dry feet!
